NASA L'SPACE Mission Concept Academy
During Fall 2021 I participated in a Mission Concept Academy, which is a STEM Workforce Development Workshop organized by people from NASA. Mission Concept Academy is a program that teaches its students to write a Preliminary Design Report (PDR) for missions that take place in space.
The mission of this session was to send a spacecraft to Mars to Analyze water ice.
Role: Science Team Leader
My responsibilities:
Guide a team of scientists
Establish the Scientific Objectives
Pick the instrumentation for the success of the mission
Establish criteria for the success of the mission
Scientific Objectives of the missions:
Measure the thickness of ice
Analyze density variations in the ice
Analyze any impurities in the ice
Look at the bed topography under the ice sheets
Scientific Instrumentation used for this mission: Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR)
